My Lyst - Blossomorsnow
The most wonderful fact about the internet is that it has opened doors to many creative collaborations and allows people to connect with each other with their interests and passions. Although a darker side is that people may meet up less but that I think for adults this is one's lifestyle choice, one can meet up with people if one really wants to. However it may be more difficult for young people though if a majority of their peers are playing games most of the time and not interacting through hobbies, clubs etc.
I think the internet has made information more accessible to all ( actually nearly all as some countries censor some sites) and this information sharing has led to better consumer choices.
The world wide web was in its infancy or toddler stage when I was 18 years old, it is simply amazing how it has blossomed and also interesting how it may possibly change human interactions socially over time.

Check out The Sartorialist and Garance Dore's collaboration with J.Crew - There are videos with cool music and are very artistic.
"... we sent photographers Garance Doré and Scott Schuman on an eight-city tour to gather the evidence—proving that amazing style, one-of-a-kind color and impeccable quality know no time zone…"

Distress and depression
I often feel down and have had this feeling up and down since I was 18 years old. Now that is over a decade now. Sometimes I feel like a phony and don't know who I am and this makes me feel anxious too.
I don't have any true friends in the strict definition of the term friend. Sometimes I focus on my work too much and it gets me down too. I need to focus more on what I want and be happy with who I am too. The difficulty is with the steps I need to take to get there.
I think they are:
1) Focus on health, career and personal development
2) Learn new skills
3) Don't feel the need to keep up or find out about old friends who have moved on with their lives
4) Don't login to Facebook every day, maybe once a month!
5) Look after myself, dress nicely and wear makeup- Bite beauty lipsticks are a must - a favourite colour is Tannin- super luscious red!

The journey by Mary Oliver
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice ‑
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do ‑
determined to save
the only life you could save.

life...
"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could."
— Louise Erdrich
Existential crisis
image credits Jonathan Leder |
An existential crisis may result from:
- The sense of being alone and isolated in the world;
- A new-found grasp or appreciation of one's mortality;
- Believing that one's life has no purpose or external meaning;
- Awareness of one's freedom and the consequences of accepting or rejecting that freedom;
- An extremely pleasurable or hurtful experience that leaves one seeking meaning;
